The Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) is a NASA mission which has been observing the Sun since 2010. It is the first mission of NASA's Living With a Star (LWS) Program, designed to understand the causes of solar variability and its impacts on Earth.

SDO monitors the Sun in multiple wavelengths to help scientists understand solar activity such as solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) and their impact on space weather.
